APRIL 28, 2006 — A young man, 17, was unable to complete the swim across a cove near Muleshoe Bend on Lake Travis. Already tired from swimming to a small island exposed because of drought, he was unable to continue the return swim. A rescue swimmer descended into the water and assisted him to shore.

APRIL 8, 2006 — A 21-year-old man and University of Texas student died at Bob Wentz Park at Windy Point on Lake Travis after he went under water for three to seven minutes before being brought to shore.

MAN LOSES LIMB IN BOAT PROPELLER ACCIDENT
JULY 1, 2005 — Jacob Brochtrup, a recent graduate of Westlake High in Austin, lost his right leg when a boat driver put a vessel into reverse, sending Jacob into Lake Austin near Emma Long Metropolitan Park. The propeller caught the top of Jacob’s right leg, twisted it around and nearly severed it completely off. Later, to save his life, doctors amputated the leg.

Today, Jacob is learning to use a prosthesis and speaks on behalf of a national propeller-safety organization.

MAY 2, 2004 — A two-level rented party barge with at least 57 occupants onboard overturned near Hippie Hollow Park on Lake Travis, tossing the victims into chilly water.

"C" is correct. A person drowning is scared and can hurt you without knowing it. Consider that a 60-pound person can pull a 180-pound person under water when in a drowning situation.
